The Procedure
The procedure is performed on healthy individuals between the ages of 18 to 75, who despite dieting and exercising continue to have areas of stubborn dietary resistant fat. These dietary resistant fat cells are programmed to be an emergency store house of fat for the body. So when we discuss the procedure, we emphasize that we would like the patients to use this procedure as a stepping stone, to become excited about the procedure and use this new shape as a motivation to further reduce one’s size by continuing to diet and exercise. The patient is instructed that one can lose weight after the procedure and still look great. For optimal results we encourage patients to get into the best shape possible prior to the outpatient procedure. In the consultation photos of before and after results are shown and discussed. A wide variety of patient types are available for viewing. Also during the consultation, a complete history and physical exam is performed. The risks and complications are reviewed and patients are asked to stop any meds for two weeks that would interfere with their ability to clot (Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, NSAIDS, Glucosamine, Green Tea, Garlic, Gingko, Grape Seed Extract, St. John’s Wart, Statins…to name a few). The procedure is performed in my JACHO approved office operating room under a conscious sedation anesthetic. The local anesthetic added to the patient’s fat cells helps numb the tissues, ease extraction of the fat, and also reduces bleeding. After the procedure is completed the patient is placed in a snug garment and is placed in recovery room for monitoring until ready to go home. The average weight loss from this procedure is 6 to 8 pounds, measured at the 8 week post op visit. On average most patients lose 2 dress sizes, and notice a tremendous “Shrink Wrap” effect around the abdomen and flank area. Call for your consultation today 251-344-0044.
